The Rock Springs Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of homeless animals in new, loving environments.
We alter and vaccinate all animals prior to placement, and screen all applicants to ensure a lifelong match between people and pets. We also educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering pets, proper pet care, and animal welfare. We place dogs, cats and exotic animals in loving, forever homes!
Adopt a Friend
All applicants are screened and a home visit is conducted to ensure the best match between you and the pet you wish to adopt. Your honesty during the application process will ensure you adopt the best pet for you...and that the animal receives the best home!
Two things to keep in mind when you're considering adoption: We do not allow dogs to be kept on chains and we do not allow dogs or cats to be kept solely outdoors. The animals in our care are full of joy and affection - they deserve to be your cherished companions!
Our fees are $100 for dogs, $120 for puppies, $80 for cats and $100 for kittens. The adoption fee for exotic animals varies by species. This fee covers the cost of spaying/neutering your new pet, and providing vaccinations.
We also welcome any inquiries from breed rescue organizations concerning the adoption of our pure-bred animals. We have the utmost respect for all the dedicated and hardworking people giving their all for the breed they love, and will be glad to work with any breed rescue organization that believes in spaying/neutering.
We have a meet & greet room for you to get acquainted with the animal of your choice. After making a decision to adopt, you will fill out an adoption application. We may verify information by calling landlords, vets, references, etc. After approval, we will schedule a home visit to make sure the home is a safe and healthy environment for the animal. Then you can take your animal home with a new leash, vaccination and spay/neuter certificate, sample of dog food, coupons, and a training tips CD.
Surrender Procedure
To surrender an animal you must fill out a surrender/personality form. This helps us know a little more about the animal which helps us get the best fit home for it. There is also a surrender fee of $25. This, I like to joke is like "child support". It helps us with food, treats, toys vet care and just general care for the animal. We CANNOT take strays for any reason. All animals have to be owner surrendered. All strays must be sent to Rock Springs/ Sweetwater County Animal Control. If the owner does not claim the animal within a certain time and the animal is deemed adoptable then Animal Control will surrender it to us to be adopted.
Fostering
We are always in need of fosters and volunteers.
